Why is it so difficult to remove blood stains from clothing? Because some of the components, especially hemoglobin and proteins, penetrate deep into the fabric and become stuck. Just as we gave you the best tips for

Ammonia
Although we've listed ammonia at the top of our list of tricks, we recommend that you don't use it as your first option. This isn't to question its effectiveness; on the contrary. The problem is that
it's a more aggressive substance , requiring extra measures to avoid discomfort and irritation after using it on a garment. Whenever you use ammonia,
do so in a well-ventilated room with the windows open . Here's the procedure:
- Dilute the ammonia with water.
- Soak the part of the garment with the blood stain and let it sit for 10 minutes.
- Remove immediately with soap and water.
-
Wash as usual , adding fabric softener to eliminate any possible odor residue.
Cold water and ice
Experts consider cold water to be the best trick when it comes to removing blood stains from clothing. For this to work,
it's important not to wait for the stain to dry , but to act quickly. And while you're at it, it's even better to combine cold water with ice:
-
Gently rub an ice cube over the blood stain .
- Add cold water and wait for it to dissolve, without needing to rub.
- Proceed to wash as usual.
Hydrogen peroxide
The cleaning applications of hydrogen peroxide are endless. It's also useful for removing blood stains from clothing. And it couldn't be simpler:
- You can apply hydrogen peroxide directly to the stain. For delicate fabrics, or if you don't want to take any risks, make a 50/50 mixture with water.
- Rub with a cloth.
- Repeat both steps a couple of times or more, depending on the intensity of the stain.
- Wash with water and neutral soap.

We started by pointing out the importance of acting immediately on the stain for these tricks to be truly effective. But we understand that this
isn't always possible , nor is it up to you. Don't despair; our last tip is specifically for removing dried blood stains.
You'll also need a product you're sure to have at home:
a tube of toothpaste . Be careful, though, because not all toothpastes are suitable. You have to make sure you use a white toothpaste; gel, menthol, or similar versions aren't suitable. The process is similar to the one we've explained for other types of products:
-
Spread the toothpaste over the stain , making sure it's completely covered. The layer doesn't have to be too thick; the important thing is that it covers everything, although we recommend using a small amount.
-
Let it dry completely , so that it penetrates all the fabric.
-
Remove the paste by immersing the garment in cold water and rinsing thoroughly.
-
Wash with the program and soap you normally use.
These tips on how to remove blood stains from clothing work; you just have to try them to confirm. Plus, they use products we all have at home or are easy to find. We definitely recommend applying them to any piece of underwear from the
